Sri Lankan Acting High Commissioner meets the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) to Promote SRI LANKA EXPO 2027

The Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Canberra, Wishwanath Aponsu met with Head of Business Development and International Affairs at the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chris Barnes, on 21 July 2026 to discuss collaborative opportunities surrounding the upcoming Sri Lanka Expo 2027.

Scheduled to take place in Colombo from 14 to 17 January 2027, Sri Lanka Expo 2027 serves as the nation's premier international trade exhibition. During the meeting, the Acting High Commissioner briefed ACCI officials on the event's scope, emphasizing its importance as a platform to highlight trade, export, and investment opportunities tailored for international markets.

During the discussion, the Acting High Commissioner extended an official invitation to the ACCI to participate in the flagship event as a leading international business body. The High Commission formally requested the Chamber's support in raising awareness across Australia’s commercial sector to encourage local enterprise participation.

Expressing appreciation for the briefing and official invitation, Chris Barnes affirmed that the ACCI will take necessary steps to disseminate information regarding Sri Lanka Expo 2027 to its network of Australian businesses.

Deputy Director of Trade and International Affairs at the ACCI, Lachlan Smith, Counsellor Captain Sagara Udayanga were also in attendance. The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening commercial cooperation, expanding market access, and strengthening trade and investment relations between Sri Lanka and Australia.
