Ambassador and Permanent Representative Dayani Mendis presents credentials to the Executive Secretary of the CTBTO.

Ambassador and Permanent Representative Dayani Mendis presented her credentials to the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd. Referring to the 30th anniversary of the CTBTO and Sri Lanka’s signature of the Treaty the same year, she reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s strong commitment to non proliferation and disarmament and reiterated the country’s support for the universalization of the Treaty.

Executive Secretary Floyd acknowledged Sri Lanka’s historic role in advancing global non proliferation, including its contribution to the 1995 NPT Review Conference chaired by Sri Lanka. He also appreciated Sri Lanka’s continued engagement with the CTBTO, highlighting that surrogate inspectors from Sri Lanka have received training in conducting on - site inspection activities, reflecting the country’s sustained commitment to strengthening verification capabilities.
