The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Canberra marked the commencement of National Integrity Week 2026 by taking the Integrity Pledge, in parallel with the main official ceremony organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism in Colombo.

The ceremony at the High Commission brought together diplomatic officers and staff to reaffirm their commitment to an ethical, transparent, and efficient public service, in line with the national drive "A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka".

In taking the solemn Integrity Pledge-2026, the staff of the High Commission pledged to prioritize the public interest over personal gain or benefit, act in accordance with conscience, self-discipline, and high ethical standards, even in the absence of external supervision, to uphold transparency, accountability, financial discipline, and respect for the law, dedicate themselves to the complete eradication of bribery, corruption, waste, conflicts of interest, nepotism, and inefficiency and to serve every person seeking assistance equally, without discrimination, and with compassion.

Following the recitation of the pledge, Acting High Commissioner Wishwanath Aponsu addressed the staff. He emphasized that, in accordance with the guidance provided by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath, public servants must continuously elevate their standards of service delivery to the Sri Lankan community and stakeholders in Australia through an exemplary public service.

The Acting High Commissioner further stated that meaningful engagement and integrity-driven actions must not be limited to a single week but actively pursued throughout National Integrity Week and beyond to ensure a long-lasting, positive transformation in public service delivery.
